Chris WinchellPost-doctoral fellow
Chris Winchell is from beautiful Western Montana. He graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Marine Biology (1998), and then from Washington State University with an MS in Zoology (2001), where he studied metazoan phylogeny with Jon Mallatt. He received a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from UCLA (2010), where he studied bilaterian appendage evo-devo and polychaete neuroanatomy with David Jacobs. As a postdoc at UC Berkeley, he worked in Nipam Patel's lab on germline replacement in an amphipod, and now in the Weisblat lab he is using CRISPR technology to study Hox expression, function, and regulatory interactions in the leech embryo.
